THE AUTHORS

CONTENTS OF THE CD-ROM

posted by Scott Trimble on Saturday, 11 Apr 1998

This CD-ROM presentation will contain multimedia about (1) the archaeology and history of 2251 College Hall, and (2) the general history of U.C. Berkeley.

The College Hall building, now containing the Archaeological Research Facility, was once home to the Zeta Psi fraternity. In Fall 1995, Professor Laurie Wilkie temporarily halted renovation of neighboring Boalt Hall in order to conduct a salvage excavation of old fraternity artifacts that were accidentally discovered. Users will be able to access texts, pictures, and videos of the excavation and its results, as well as information about the history of the building itself.

Alongside a timeline of Zeta Psi and ARF history, one will also be able to access multimedia from different times in general U.C. Berkeley history -- including the university's incorporation in 1868, the Axe Thefts of 1899 and 1930, the Residence Halls, the Civil Rights movements, Big Games such as 1982's "The Play", personalities like Rick Starr and Larry Hunt, the Affirmative Action debate, etc.
