SAN FRANCISCO — Scott T.S. Trimble combines his love of film, computers and the Bay Area into a Web site called "Northern California Movies," a database of films shot in the Bay Area and beyond.

Trimble, 23, and a 1999 graduate of the University of California, Berkeley (anthropology major), started the site in 1997, listing only movies shot in San Francisco. He soon expanded the boundaries and now lists movies shot in 37 Northern California counties, spending "way too much" time on it.

The site now includes more than 750 movie mentions and 1,000 Web pages. He updates the site almost daily.

It lists both big roles and small roles for Northern California, from "Mrs. Doubtfire," which was set in San Francisco, to "Tucker" where Martinez's City Hall steps receive billing. Some pages include stills from the films to show exactly what was shot and where.

As expected, Trimble is a die-hard film buff.

"I've loved them all my life," said Trimble, who grew up in San Rafael.

He currently works as a location scout.

He recently hunted locations for an upcoming Keanu Reeves film, "Sweet November," and "Further Tales of the City."

Trimble's current projects include Disney's "The Princess Diaries" with Julie Andrews and Mandy Moore as well as "Forty Days, Forty Nights" by Miramax.

Trimble also maintains an e-mail list of people to whom he distributes information about movie productions in Northern California, including job listings. About 275 people subscribe to the list, which is sent out weekly.

His Web site is sfbay.stst.net but is expected to be changed to norcalmovies.com within the month.
