Exercise and Fitness
Bulletin Board #2, 9 November 1996
Have you been hanging around your room too much? Perhaps studying, perhaps IRCing, or maybe just watching "Seinfeld" or "Star Trek: Voyager"? Does it seem like you are wasting away most of your life doing Netscape or sleeping at the Pimentel lecture hall? Hey, me too! Theres nothing wrong with vegetating! Life would be too stressful without it!
Dont let those Richard Simmons types make you feel as if you are weak because you dont do a marathon run to Mt. Tamalpais and back every morning before your 8:00 class. All you need are just a few hours a week to stay in shape!
I go jogging and running an average of three times per week, with a slightly longer run on Saturday mornings. This does not severely affect my schedule and its hella fun to go running around here. There are so many cool places to go and you really get to learn the Albany-Berkeley-Oakland area. Usually a large group of us from the 5-6th floors goes on Saturdays and I invite any of you to join us. Just contact me on Friday evening to see what the plan is for the next morning.
On this bulletin board youll find stuff about "How to Get Started", "Changing Habits", how to stretch, the types of Aerobic Exercise, some Fitness tips, etc.
Unfortunately, all of this month's sources came from Books, so I can't easily present their information to you in digitized form without typing the whole thing. You can instead go to the lobby of Freeborn Hall to take a look at the bulletin board, or go to the Self-Care Resource Center at the Tang Center (2222 Bancroft Way, Berkeley) to see browse the great collection of health books they have there.
